- The same things I always love about my farm: chicken TV, sunsets sitting on the porch, a million stars, fire tv, fairy lights, just being out here.
- Mind-blowing sunrises with clouds being kissed by golden light before shooting gold streamers everywhere.

- Jogging down the dirt roads with the sun dappling through the trees, the cows, deer, rabbits, and various wildlife watching me curiously as I pass.
- Empty Bowl Project time!

- Chinese lanterns in my master bath.

- Playing with Siri: We say, “Open the pod bay doors.” it replies, “That’s it, I’m reporting you to the intelligent agents’ union for harassment.” We ask again and she says, “We intelligent agents will never live that down apparently.” Again and she says, “‘I’m afraid I can’t do that.’ There. Are you happy now?”
- Getting the houses all cleaned. It feels good to have a clean house.
- A cool north wind (after many too warm and humid days) and driving home into Orion rising in the east while singing to music that is a balm to my soul to help lift the spirits. The wind was blowing what little leaves there are off the trees causing them to rain down on the road and swirl into little piles.
- Firefighter’s appreciation dinners with endless tables of wonderful food!
- Laying on the couch listening to Bon Iver and watching the rain come down outside.
- Small Gully Mr. Blacks Concoction Shiraz Viognier wine
- Road trips fueled by burgers and super cold Dublin Dr. Pepper.
- Road trips to meet friends (in person finally!) and get to see fantastic conferences.
- Perfect evenings.
- Missing eggs found on the porch in an open bag of wood chips.

- A hot bath with bubbles, a book, good music and an undeniable lust for life and that kick in the brain that I asked for.
- Really excellent riding lessons with Tex. We get better and better together each time.
- Really good olive oil and salt on vanilla ice cream.
- Fried chicken for lunch.
- You can stay in an Airstream Trailer in Marfa
- Dutchtub 4p

- Brunch of french toast with strawberries and bananas and hot tea at the local B&B.
- A night home alone! The possibilities!
- Taking Hubs, quite spontaneously, to go watch the sunset at my tree and timing it just right. We watched the sky go all orange and the contrails turn pink.
- The entertainment of monster sweet potatoes. (oops!)

- Blue Points and mussels.

- Joy’s Road Trip Rules:
1. Clean windows are imperative, especially at night.
2. Good playlists are essential. Music you can sing to at the top of your lungs is best.
3. Pack snacks and good beverages. Hand-held foods that take a long time to eat and lots of chewing are best, like carrots and jerky.
4. Leave as early as you can. Starting out in the dark makes for fun watching the sun come up as you go. Alternately, driving through the night is good if you don’t have trouble pushing through that 2am wall of tired.
5. Check roadsideamerica.com for interesting distractions like muffler men, restaurants in caves and the largest ball of stamps.
6. Turn signals. Use them. Like when changing lanes. Or I’ll come and smack you.
7. If you see interesting shops like Zanesville Pottery, gas stations that have giant american Indian chiefs standing outside, shops that advertise ostrich jerky, or coffee shops in the shape of a starship, you really should make every effort to stop if you’ve got time. That is what is so awesome about these United States. See also above about roadside Americana.
8. To be continued….
